Hi, and it's glad to read some of your stories to relate to what's going on with me! I'm 34, and 4 weeks ago I was diagnosed with Prostatitis and it's unfortunate to see I may have a long battle ahead of me. My symptoms were off and on for about a year and started minor I guess. A small pain in the gland of my left groin and some hit and miss lower back/hip pain. I hadn't take much notice to everything until about 6 months later. It hit me that I just didn't have the sex drive I was used to. That was followed shortly by episodes of impotency. I really had to work to get it up for sex. That gave way to sometimes not getting up at all, or in some cases even losing an erection during sex. At that point, I knew something must be wrong but didn't really have the painful symptoms we all describe. That is until about 2 months ago. I first noticed my left testicle would move up and into my body during sex and eventually on it's own. That led way over the weeks to symptoms that included: severe testicle pain (that just got kicked feeling), testicle numbness, back/inner hip pain that seems to shoot around at will, groin pain, rectal pain (even a few episodes it hurt so bad it woke me from sleep grabbing at the sheets), and severe pain in yes, my thumbs! I ended up going to the ER about a month ago. They did blood tests, urine tests, ekg's etc.. and did not find anything wrong with me. A follow up Dr's visit suggested possibly nerve damage and I was given muscle relaxers. Fast forward a week and I'm back in the ER as in addition to the pain, I'm now getting tight chested and feeling faint! At this time, the ER Dr. performs a prostate exam and tells me I have prostatitus. That is confirmed upon another follow up visit. I was given Cipro for 14 days. Other than dealing with the side affects, full sexual function re-appeared! pain gone for the most part. That is until my Cipro cycle ran out and within 24hrs I was in major pain once again! My testicles actually retracted up close to my body like never before and it was all I could do to wait another day to get to the hospital. Long story short, I am now on Sulfameth for 30 days. It's helping but the pains still come and go. I'm optimistic for the future and would love to get back to exercising again! 2 months ago I was in the best shape of my life at 10% body fat and an avid bodybuilder. I don't know if that was some of the cause of my issues or not. I also work in a very stressfull environment and can imagine how that might have contributed to this. I'm trying to keep my diet clean to help and stay away from caffiene and alcohol as that never helps anything. I look forward to sharing my experiences to hopefully find relief. God Bless you all -Jay
