About 2 months or so ago, I went to the doctor with these symptoms: frequent pain just as I finish urinating, dribbling after I am done (such as if I bend over or sit down etc), bladder discomfort/pain. The doctor did urine test, found no blood or infection. I mentioned to her that I had prostatitis once before so she said that was likely what this was. She put me on Cipro for 3 weeks. My symptoms seemed to improve but when I finished the medicine they came back. So I went back the doctor and this time she put me on 6 weeks of Bactrim. I am now finished with the medicine and I am still having symptoms. She told me if I was still experiencing leakage I would have to see a urologist. I am still having leakage, but not to the degree I was before. I am now having a burning feeling in my bladder and some pain when I urinate, and having to get up at least once in the night to urinate. Does this sound like prostatitis? I had it before but it seemed to respond to the antibiotic, this time it doesn't seem to be. I read somewhere that aspartame can cause these symptoms and I had been ingesting a lot of it (light yogurt, diet soda, diet iced tea...etc), but that it can take up to 60 days after you stop ingesting it for your symptoms to clear. Has anybody else heard this?

The first time I had prostatitis was around 4 years ago, my symptoms were discharge, perineum pain, testicular pain, bladder pain/discomfort. The symptoms were somewhat different then than they are now. I wasn't real impressed with the doctor, as she didn't even check my prostate.

I am really paranoid that I have bladder or prostate cancer (I am 29 years old) or something. Any advice/suggestions would be helpful!
