Hi. I have suffered from Chronic Non Bacterial Prostatitis  since I was 17 ( I am 54 now !! ) As I get older the episodes become more delilitating and I am going through hell with it right now.

In Septemebr last year was admited to hospital and was on very high Doses of Cipro even though I have Non bacterial form. Since then its been murder.

Usual symptoms
1) Low back pain ( toothache type ) generally on right side and radiating down thigh, hip, inner groin, but sometime radiates further even to calf
2) burnin in groin area
3) low volume
4) Frequency ( esp at night )
5) dribble
6) Tiredness
7) Poor sex Drive.

These symptoms vary in theri intensity. Though really bad at the moment, I have juist had a period of three wekks with virtually no symtoms at all, urin flow back to normal, no back pain, no frequency, then for no apparent reason it starts up again and over 3 or 4 days builds up to a crescendo.

The annoying thing is that I am trying to all the things that are recomended.#

1) Drinking plenty of fluids
2) Not drinking alcohol
3) avoiding acidic foods
4) Avoiding Caffine
5) Avoiding Spicy foods
6) Trying to relax the Pelvic Floor
7) Trying to not stress
Cool Getting rest
9) Voiding bladder regularly

At the end of the day nothing seems to help, it just comes back with avengence and stays for another long period.

I cant help getting really worked up when its a bad episode, but then I tell myself that because it can go away for long periods and my functions return to normal it is not going to stay forever, but these episodes are getting longer and I am getting more depressed.

Does anyone else have the same experience? Or am I on my own?

ps I am on Naproxen anti inflamatoreis and also Tamulosin. The Cipro doesnt do anything

Need some moral support guys:)
