Alright, a little update....  for those of you not familiar with my story, please check out my previous thread "How I Cured My Prostatitis":

http://chronic-prostatitis.org/your-personal-prostatitis-case-history/how-i-cured-my-postatitis/

Basically, I seemed to have found some relief from the chronic pain for a number of months, but then it came back.  The culprit?  Lots and lots of sitting.  I was doing everything in the book to get the symptoms back under control when I found something so simple it was hard to believe:

LOCALIZED ICING OF THE GROIN AND ANY OTHER BODY PARTS WITH PAIN (LOWER BACK, INNER THIGHS, ETC)

My Thai message therapist had been recommending it to me for months and for whatever reason I just didn't do it until recently.  Man, what a difference!  I cannot guarantee it will work for everyone, but it's certainly worth a try and very cheap!  Just put an ice pack where needed for about 10-15 min a couple of times a  day.  I've avoided the the hot baths all together.  Supposedly, the heat is just further inflaming the tissue.  If you're really brave, try an ice bath instead for 10 min.

I'm going to also strongly recommend that you avoid long periods of sitting, as well as strengthening and stretching the pelvic floor muscle as much as possible (once again, see my previous thread http://chronic-prostatitis.org/your-personal-prostatitis-case-history/how-i-cured-my-postatitis/).

For those of you confused and have been on rounds and rounds of antibiotics and still experiencing pain, I'm willing to bet you don't have a problem with your prostate... It's an issue with your pelvic floor muscle.  There are lots of nerves and delicate muscles connected in that area (around the prostate) and once the area gets traumatized and aggravated, it's hard to stop the chronic unconscious cycle of tensing and irritation... Hence the term "Chronic Non-Bacterial Prostatitis".  Keeping your pelvic floor muscle stretched, strengthened, healthy and non-inflamed is the ticket.

Hope that helps!

Mark

Hi MisterMark, I'm really pleased to see someone actually posting a success story. I'm fed up with stories like "I will try this or that and get back in a few months" never to hear from the poster again.

I think you are spot on with the icing theory, that is how muscular inflammation have been treated for ages (together with antiinflammatory pain relievers which you mention), good luck with that.

As to sitting, there are many ways to sit: slouching, on the front edge, straight up with the back straight. My theory is that sitting in a bad way may worsen your condition but sitting the correct way will not. The correct way of sitting is straight up, imagining a balloon attached to the center of the top of your head.

I would agree with you that there is a great deal of stress involved, why not try some relaxation techiques when you feel stressed out?

Best of Luck
