Hello all, thank god i found other people with my condition. I believe i have had a prostate infection for over a year now. it all began in late 2008 when i found i could not urinate and i had to strain to do so, but in doing this a pain started to develop on my inner hip bone on my left side, i at first thought it might be an inguinal hernia (although i haven't fully ruled that out as a possibility) as i had lost my appetite for 3 whole days and had no desire to eat anything, i seen a doctor and he gave me a prescription on Bactrim which i took for roughly a week. It did not help.

I seen him again and in May 2009 i had a colonoscopy performed to rule out cancer (which scared the life out of me), and results for that also came up negative, in June i was sent for a cystoscopy which also turned out negative, just summariize some more, i have also had an ultrasound and CT scan, nothing came up.

Now just today i went to see a doctor in another town again because i was having pain again between my anus and testicles, also felt like my bladder was hurting or infected. I gave another urine test, he called me to another room, did a rectal exam which i did not enjoy the second time around or the first for that matter, felt my prostate, i yelped in pain, said i would have to stay on Cipro and some kind of meds that reduce prostate swelling, for at least 3 months. I have tried herbal medications which do help a little but are not a solution to the problem.

I do have a question for some the people who have suffered with this disease for awhile have you or anyone you known had lost thier appetite like i did when they first had their symptoms.

Upate: Took Cipro treatment which was ineffective, was put on Bactrim and almost finished my month of dosage, and i must say it has worked very well, the prostatitis symptoms are gone, i no longer have urge to wake up in middle of night and urinate. Strange that Cipro did not really work and Bactrim did, but i did some research and Bactrim is also for intestinal infections as well, i began taking probiotics and eating more fibre, my own personal analysis is that it was my intestine that caused my prostate infection, i suspect i also have a hernia and it is pinching off my intestine. Hope this info will help someone. So far my symptoms are all but gone and i pray that they will remain so and that i am not in some sort of remission.
